Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Leased Line?
A Dedicated Leased Line is the ultimate internet connection. With a fibre optic line direct to your business premises, you can benefit from a connection that’s exclusively yours, unlike Fibre and Broadband connections which use a shared network.
A Dedicated Leased Line is often referred to as a Leased Line, a Dedicated Line, Ethernet or DIA (Direct Internet Access), but they all refer to an internet line that cuts out the cabinet and connects directly to your business premise.
Are there different types of Leased Lines?
There are a number of different leased line options that exist, and we supply EoFTTP (Ethernet over Fibre to the Premise), EoSOGEA (Single Order Generic Ethernet Access) and DIA (Dedicated Internet Access).
All our Dedicated Leased Lines are available in a range of different speeds: 100Mb/s, 1Gb/s and our fastest option, 10Gb/s. These speeds are for both uploads and downloads.
What's the difference between a leased line and business broadband?
Traditional broadband – such as Business Broadband or Business Fibre – is a contended connection shared by multiple organisations. As bandwidth is shared between neighbouring businesses, during busy periods you may experience slowdown to your connection.
A leased line is an uncontended connection, reserved exclusively for your business. With a private fibre optic connection straight to your premises, your business can benefit from a high-quality internet connection and guaranteed upload and download speeds at all times.
How much does a leased line cost?
TalkTalk Business have a range of leased line packages to support the needs of any business. Prices start from as little as £75 per month (ex VAT. 36-month term.) for our EoSOGEA 20Mb/s packages.
Our expert team would be happy to help you choose the best option to suit the unique requirements of your business. To start a conversation, call us on 01763448166 or book a callback at a time that suits.
What's the difference between EoSOGEA and EoFTTP?
Eo (Ethernet over) products are a low-cost alternative to Leased Lines, bridging the gap between broadband and dedicated fibre access circuits.
They provide Ethernet services over broadband-type access circuits, but unlike broadband they are uncontended and can provide guaranteed symmetrical speeds.
The SLA’s are much better than a standard broadband service, with a 7-hour fix time (broadband is typically 48 hours).
There are two access options, which we offer under our Leased Line Lite service:
- EoFTTP which provides Ethernet service over an FTTP connection.
- EoSOGEA which provides Ethernet service over a SOGEA, or ‘part fibre’ connection.
